Freddy the dog
Hi Everyone, Interesting to read the comment from Ashleigh regarding euthanasia for humans as compared to animals. We are struggling to make the decision to euthanse our beloved german shepherd who is only 7 years old and has a rapidly growing tumour in his mouth. Surgery was never an option as it would have meant removing his jaw. He was diagnosed in April, hence the reason for living in a campervan rather than motel accommodation as we wanted to have Freddy with us and not put him into kennels. He can hardly open his mouth now, this causes him pain to eat but he can still eat and drink (just), he has lost a lot of weight. A visit to the vet yesterday confirmed spread to his lungs and we need to make the decision within the next week or so. We realise he is a dog but still a loved member of our family.Interesting how we soften the decision making by using terminology such as "putting him to sleep".Not an easy decision to make, some would say at least we have options. . .
